Our Story

The Center for Community Justice(CCJ) turned 50 years old in 2023, which means we were founded in August 1973.

Although back then, we had a different name: The Law, Order & Justice Center, and the agency's original purpose was providing bail money for Vietnam War protestors.

In the time since our founding, not only our name has changed, we have changed. We now provide programs that did not exist decades ago, we meet needs which were not known decades ago, and we are always in pursuit of new solutions to old problems as well as new ones.

Our Mission statement says we aim "To provide programs and services dedicated to community-based remedies in the pursuit of peaceful resolutions, accountability, and justice." However, our real mission has been to help people; and CCJ has helped people for the last 50 years.
